Employee Training Requirement: Respectful Workplace
Idaho State University faculty and staff are joining all other State employees in completing an annual Respectful Workplace Training requirement.

Everyone is worthy of respect. As we work together to continually build a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace, this session will explore ways we can create this environment. Identifying and preventing discrimination, harassment, bullying, and disrespectful conduct helps protect everyone.

What You Need to Know

The Idaho Division of Human Resources (DHR) now requires all State of Idaho employees complete Respectful Workplace training on a yearly basis. As part of this requirement:
  • All employees must complete a live training session (currently offered Zoom-based) at least once every three years. This live training requirement exists to ensure employees have the opportunity to dialogue and ask questions of subject matter experts.
  • All employees must complete this training annually (online refreshers are acceptable for 2 years immediately following a live training year).
  • All new employees must complete a live training session within 30 days of their hire date.
  • ISU is required to track compliance with this requirement as part of the faculty and staff annual performance evaluation.
To meet this requirement, ISU has developed an internal training program and will be facilitating sessions accordingly to meet this 3-year cycle. Live (Zoom) and on-demand, online sessions will rotate. Year one (2020) will be facilitated synchronously (Zoom) and the next two years (2021 and 2022) will be offered as self-paced, online refresher modules.
What You Need to Do

In Year One (2020) all faculty, classified and non-classified staff, adjuncts (currently on contract), and temporary employees will be asked to complete a “live” (Zoom-based) Respectful Workplace training by Dec. 31, 2020
New faculty and staff will need to complete this training in 30 days after hire. HR will begin to notify new employees directly of this requirement upon hire and coordinate registration.

In Year Two (2021) and Year Three (2022) this training will be completed through an on-demand, online module that will be assigned to employees at the beginning of each calendar year.
