Just take that in for a moment.....
Two things come to my mind simultaneously;
Absolutely & What the hell??
Yes for most of us this fits with our experience of what we do. We do the impossible. But it also fits that that's why I'm so tired all the time!
I built a company by myself from the ground up with only $500 in funding while raising 2 sons. So yes I do the impossible. But am I to accept this is the natural order of things and this is what all women must do all the time?
Given the mass exodus of women from Corporate and the mass number of small businesses started by women I guess we are saying a resounding "NO" to being the one expected to do the impossible all the time!
I also want to say that with the attack on DEI and the cut back on programs for women in Corporate there is a literal attack on women in the workplace! Sexual Harrasment and other forms of discrimination of women in corporate are on the rise. One young woman who has only been with her company for 1 year has been attacked 3 times!!
So women see no way to do all of what they have to do all the time and they also must endure increased attacks while doing it! Nope! I quit!
I wish I could be hopeful about this state of affairs for women but I can't. I see no way out other then to endure until the geo-political climate changes. And to get out and find something else to do until it passes. You can also fight and vote accordingly. Make complaints through your company channels and get women together on your own time and dime.
In the 1700-1900's women met with each other in quilting groups, Mah Jong groups and prayer groups. They used acceptable activities to keep being with each other. Like our Matriarchs we must continue to be together and share and plot! Don't let your company dictate who you share you time with! AND
Don't continue to do the impossible without the appropriate support systems, titles and pay!!!
