Wandering Women's Hike - Saturday
All women of the church are invited to join the Wandering Women walk on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. Meg Moose will be leading our time together. We will be exploring Millbrook Marsh, 548 Puddintown Road. (If you are coming from Lemont or Bellefonte, don’t forget that Puddintown Road is closed at its intersection with College Ave., and there is a detour in place.) The walk is a flat, 2-mile round trip.
We will meet at the Marsh’s gravel parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Dress for the weather, bring water, and consider sunscreen and/or bug/tick spray. We usually walk in light rain, but will cancel if the weather is stormy. Look for any cancellation information due to weather conditions on SCPC Facebook and via email.
If you have any questions, please contact Meg at moose763@icloud.com.

Every year, we make cards for incarcerated people through a project with Centre Peace. This is an all-ages mission opportunity. Full names and addresses are never shared with recipients (or even Centre Peace!). Nevertheless, the impact of your very human and imperfect work can be enormous.
“These cards are small acts of kindness with profound impact. They remind recipients that grace reaches behind bars, that the spirit of Christmas belongs to everyone, and that healing can begin with a single envelope. … One recipient wrote simply, “I didn’t think anyone remembered me. This card made me cry.” (Centre Peace)
This year, we’d like to deliver more than 100 cards. Instructions and ideas can be found here. Feel free to gather a group in your neighborhood to create, or make some in your study group, or before your committee meeting.

All Saints Sunday
On Sunday, November 1, we will observe All Saints Sunday at SCPC. During worship, we will take time to remember and honor the members of our church family who have passed from this life to life eternal over the past year.
We also invite you to bring a photo of a loved one who has passed away. During the prelude, you will have the opportunity to light a candle and hang their photo as a meaningful reminder that we are “surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.”
If you would like to participate but are unable to bring a printed photo, you are welcome to email a digital photo to the church office, and we will be happy to print it for you.
Please email photos to Laura at officescpc@gmail.com by noon on Tuesday, October 27.

This Week's Prayer Concerns | |
This Week's Prayer Concerns -
- Craig Colwell had surgery last week and is now home recovering
- Roger Garthwaite is in the hospital at Mount Nittany
- Bob Igo will be having shoulder surgery on October 16
A prayer for World Food Day (Friday 10/16) and in anticipation of the CROP walk on Sunday 10/18:
What do you bring to Christ’s table?
We bring bread, made by many people’s work from an unjust world where some have plenty, and many go hungry. At this table, all are fed, and no one turned away.
Thanks be to God.
What do you bring to Christ’s table?
We bring wine, made by many people’s work from an unjust world where some have leisure and many struggle to survive.
At this table, all share the cup of pain and celebration, and no one is denied.
Thanks be to God.
These gifts shall be for us the body and blood of Christ, Our witness against hunger, our cry against injustice, And our hope for a world where God is fully known And every child is fed. Thanks be to God.

As Presbyterians, we believe in being civically engaged! (PCUSA resources here)
In Centre County, you can vote "by mail" without ever worrying if your ballot is going to make it in one direction or the other. There is lots more information here, including what to do if you know someone who needs help physically getting their ballot, and how to vote large-print on election day.
This year, there is a group leading a non-partisan parade to the drop box. If you are voting a mail ballot, but miss the civic celebration of election day, head for the MLK plaza on Fraser on Saturday, October 17th. [NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE] The party starts at 1:00 pm, with the ballot parade (to the State College Municipal Building) beginning at 2:00. No partisan or protest signs, please.
