All That Makes This House a Home

At Transplant House of Cleveland, we're not just offering a roof over the heads of organ transplant patients and their families – we're providing a lifeline during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Our mission goes beyond providing an affordable place to sleep; it's about creating a supportive community that provides hope and makes healing possible. We know that the organ transplant journey is filled with physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Having a safe, affordable, and comfortable place to call home can make all the difference.

Transplant House is a place where families can find comfort and respite after long days spent in clinical settings. They can connect with others facing similar challenges, and focus on what matters most: support for, and the recovery of, their loved one.

Most of all, they are invited to make this House their home for as long as they need. To some of our guests, that means firing up the grill for an impromptu cookout with a Transplant House neighbor. For others it could be a visit to a coffee shop in Little Italy with a fellow caregiver, spending some quiet time on their porch, or decorating their apartment with personal touches during the holidays.

We are grateful to have been a home to these special families for 10 years and look forward to many years ahead of being a home-away-from-home to patients and caregivers. To our supporters: thank you for building this home with us.

National Minority Donor Awareness Month

We are grateful to have once again collaborated with our partners at Cleveland MOTTEP and Lifebanc to help focus attention on the importance of organ donation within minority communities. Speakers with personal connections to transplant, including past House guest Rodney Stepp, gave heartfelt presentations emphasizing the importance and power of the life-giving gift made possible by saying "yes" to becoming a donor.

Meet Ashley Young

Ashley joined our team this summer as our Assistant Operations Manager of Hospitality and Housekeeping. She is originally from Denver, Colorado, but moved to Cleveland from Chicago. Ashley has a 15-year-old son and two dogs named Velvet and Matilda. She is looking forward to meeting new people, connecting with families, and helping us to ensure our apartments are inviting, clean, and ready for guests.

Happenings Around the House

Thank you, Goddard School!

A big thank you to them and to Team Alex for inspiring the MASSIVE donation of much-needed and appreciated Wish List items! (Benson also wishes to thank them for the belly rubs ) The students asked for donations and spread the word about Transplant House around their school with some very impressive and detailed handmade signs.

Wishing a Fond Farewell

We recently said goodbye to Grace Pindel and Sydney Carlson – two student employees who spent their summer with us on our operations team. Grace, who studies Studio Art and Art History at Washington University in St. Louis will be studying abroad in Italy this fall while Sydney will be pursuing a Masters degree in Applied Forensic Science at Mercyhurst University. We wish them all the best in their studies!

Volunteers: Providing a Taste of Home

Our meal volunteers are a big reason why our guests find Transplant House a welcoming, home-away-from-home while staying in Cleveland for life-saving medical care. The Wednesday dinners are the perfect volunteer activity for a group and we have a need for meal volunteers at the end of August!
