Truth “Red Flags” Deception
Colossians 2:8 (NLT®)
Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.
One of the characteristics of the End of the Age is deception. Today, like in Paul’s time, deception often comes wrapped in “empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense.” We must be vigilant so deception doesn’t destroy those we love and what we hold dear. One of the ways to avoid deception is to know the truth. I’m told that when banks train their employees to recognize a counterfeit bill, they don’t train them every possible way counterfeit currency might look and feel. They teach them to be so familiar with the real thing that when they pick up a counterfeit bill, they will immediately recognize the difference. Let’s make that our goal regarding the truth of God. Let’s become so familiar with His Word and the principles we read there that we will immediately recognize false teachings as “empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense.”
THINK ABOUT IT
We overcome deception by loving and honoring the truth and obeying the truth we know.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to be a light for Your truth in this season of turbulence, deception, lies, and immorality. Grant me wisdom, boldness, and courage to seek out and love the truth more than ever and use my entire life to proclaim it for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Allen Jackson
