Dear Sea Devil Community,
August is a busy time for CFCC faculty and staff as we celebrate new graduates and get ready to meet incoming students. It is with great excitement and joy that we come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating students and welcome a new wave of eager learners.
Please join me in welcoming Lucinda McNamara as our new Dean of University Transfer and Partnership. Lucinda brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education to her new role. As dean, Lucinda will oversee the College’s transfer programs and relationships with receiving colleges and universities. Cape Fear Community College students are in high demand among 4-year institutions, and we are committed to helping students create seamless pathways for transition.
Career Academy camps have been in full swing over the past few weeks. This marks the second year CFCC has been able to host these summer camps, which allow students from Williston Middle and West Pender Middle Schools to explore various career options in interactive, hands-on learning environments. The dedicated efforts of our faculty, staff, and volunteers have led to the expansion of camps, offering an enriching experience for the participants. We are proud to acknowledge Senator Michael Lee's support as a key champion of this program, and we take pride in being the first community college in North Carolina to offer this exceptional opportunity to middle school students.
At CFCC, our commitment to expanding our health science programs remains a priority. We're excited to announce a remarkable achievement: this fall semester, we will welcome an additional 20 students into our Practical Nursing program. Now, the program will accommodate 50 students. I want to thank our dedicated health science faculty and staff for working diligently to expand the program as the college strives to address the healthcare hiring needs of our community.
To meet employer demand, we implemented three new night courses slated to start this fall — Automotive Systems Technology, Interior Design, and Machining. These night courses aim to make quality education more accessible to individuals interested in exploring new career opportunities or advancing their current ones.
As our student enrollment continues its upward trend, the necessity to hire additional faculty and support staff becomes more apparent. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Sea Devil family, please share this newsletter with them to view our current openings.
As always, thank you for your continued support. Together, we will continue to nurture a supportive and inclusive learning community where every individual can thrive.
Sincerely,
|
