Prayer List

During these tumultuous times of the pandemic and experiences of continued acts of racial bigotry across the nation, we find ourselves groaning with the entire creation, as Romans 8 aptly describes it. May it give us hope that, just as scripture promises, exactly at times like this the Spirit helps us in our weakness, and she intercedes with us and turns our sighs too deep for words into prayer. (Romans 8:22, 26)

This week we pray for:

Otis Whitmore Senior
Prayers of comfort for Otis Whitmore Senior, who is gravely ill. He is the father of our member, Otis Whitmore. Prayers of strength for Mr. Whitmore's family in their love and care for him.

Rachel David and Eric Weiss
Congratulations to Rachel and Eric on their engagement! Our Westminster family rejoices with you and we wish you every blessing as you begin this exciting new chapter... and life together in your new home! Our prayers and love go with you!

Becca, Candy Relle's Friend's Daughter-in-law
Becca was diagnosed with colon cancer that already spread to the liver. After further testing, Becca received some encouraging news this past week. She has two small children ages 1 and 4. Prayers are welcomed as next steps in treatment are determined.

Michael Bretz
Michael is back from Arizona. Prayers for him as he discerns a new direction for his journey.

Monica Lee and husband John Cox
Prayers for Sue-Min Lee’s daughter Monica and her husband John as they grieve the death of John’s stepfather Dale this past weekend.

Sympathy cards may be sent to:

Teresina Bowman (John’s mother), 132 Villa Pointe Drive, Springboro, OH 45066

John Cox and Monica Lee, 2710 Montcalm Road, Columbus, OH 43221.

Beth Coetzee
Continued prayers of comfort and strength for Beth Coetzee   and Dries, as Beth continues with her chemo treatment for her tongue cancer. our love surrounds you both as you continue this journey.

Cards may be sent to Beth Coetzee, 1820 W. Mulberry, San Antonio, TX 78201.

Ferenc Relle
Continued prayers for full recovery after a recent gallbladder surgery.

Continued prayers for all of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Those who lost loved ones; those among us who cannot visit loved ones in nursing homes or hospitals; those who lost jobs; those whose livelihoods and safety is endangered, especially our neighbors experiencing homelessness here in Wooster.

Prayers for international students affected by the new regulations issued from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE). These regulations require that international students in the United States take courses in-person or in a hybrid format. If students take only remote or online courses, their visa status would lapse and they would be required to leave the US. We pray also for those advocates at universities and colleges and in the legal system who are working tirelessly to change this policy and protect students from harm.

Prayer Request and Privacy Laws

Please note, that because of government privacy laws, hospitals and care centers no longer are allowed to notify churches that a person has been admitted (even if the person lists their home church at admission). The only way that the church staff will know if someone is hospitalized is if a family member or friend lets us know. We'd rather get 20 calls about the same person than none! Thanks for your help in making Westminster a caring community. Contact the Westminster Office by phone 330-263-2398 or email to notify the church if you or someone you know is hospitalized or otherwise in need of our prayers!
