Tip of the Week:
Calming/Processing Support for Teens
More calming strategies for our older students:
-
Write it- Keep a journal. Pray about the hurts/worries/disappointments/ celebrations. Each day review the previous 3 days and make a note of the prayers that God has answered and/or helped you through.
-
Listen to music- Encourage your teen to listen to music that is calming, soothing, and reminds us that God is bigger than our current situation; yet,He cares deeply about us and our situation and wants to walk with us through it.
-
Read-Encourage the teen to have a good book series, scientific journal articles etc.on hand as an escape.
- Learn to play a musical instrument, join a sport/club/musical theater.
-
Goal setting- Have your teen write out 3 goals that they hope to accomplish over the next 60 days that are tangible. Have them write it out in the SMART format: Specific, Measure, Achievable, Relevant, Time Bound.
