September in the Gallery brings us local artist Ani Eastwood
Ani Eastwood is 4th generation Montanan who specializes in Original Oils and Giclee Reproductions of Wild and Scenic landscapes in Montana and the southwest. She offers a variety of handmade and framed mountain landscapes with an impressionistic touch and will be featuring some new original fall works this September.
She hopes her artwork brings the landscapes we all love into people's intimate spaces and alwaysremind us of the value of our national parks and open landscapes. Her pieces are not just landscapes, but usually also have a narrative, surreal quality, trying to express the underlying feelings that affect us all seasonally and in different life stages with limited palettes and imagery.
She also works to a break and test boundaries of how we all envision traditional giclee printing, such as finding new ways to embellish prints, and paint outside the lines. In addition, 5% of Ani's sales from her work is donated to the National Forest Foundation each year to hopefully secure our wild and scenic landscapes for future generations.

The Thief Collector:
A documentary about art stolen under the strangest circumstances!
🤔 🎨 🖼
Allison Otto’s “The Thief Collector” is an art documentary that builds to a supreme moment of “Oh. My. God.” At first we think we’re watching the story of a weirdly isolated act of art thievery — and for a good stretch, we are, and we’re held in thrall by it. In 1985, on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Jerry and Rita Alter, who were retired residents of the scrub-brush desert town of Cliff, New Mexico, wandered into the University of Arizona Museum of Art. It was 9:00 a.m., and the museum was mostly empty.
As Rita distracted a guard, Jerry walked up to the museum’s most prized work, “Woman-Ochre,” an abstract expressionist portrait painted by William de Kooning in 1955, and proceeded to cut the canvas right out of its frame. He rolled it up and concealed it, and he and Rita walked out of the museum and into a rust-colored sports car and made their getaway.
The Thief Collector” re-enacts this robbery in staged scenes with a couple of actors: Sarah Minnich and, mugging a bit in a hideous fake mustache (which Jerry wore that day), Glenn Howerton. As it turns out, though, this brazen act of out-in-the-open thievery, as insane as it was, isn’t the strangest part of the story. The Alters took the painting back to their home and hung it, in a cheap gold frame, behind their bedroom door, so that it was more or less concealed.

The Thief Collector is available for streaming on a number of platforms including Amazon Prime, Google Play, and Apple TV. To read more about this film, check out Variety's review here.
