UUCC Annual Meeting Notice

Potluck at 5:30PM | Meeting at 6:30PM

This is the official notice to the membership of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia that the Annual Meeting will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 6:30PM (EDT). A congregational potluck will be held at 5:30PM, prior to the meeting.  

This meeting will be multi-platform: attendees may attend virtually on Zoom or in person at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center in Sanctuary C. All UUCC members and congregants are welcome to attend the meeting. According to our bylaws, any individual who has been a member of UUCC for at least sixty (60) days is eligible to vote on each matter presented to the congregation. This year, the 60-day mark was April 8, 2026.  

Information and details about the meeting will appear as it becomes ready at the Annual Meeting webpage (uucolumbia.net/annual-meeting-2026). 

Please check the webpage frequently during May for updated information.   

The Annual Meeting will include reports from Board officers and various committees and task forces. Business to be transacted includes:   

• Approval of the FY 2026-27 budget 
• Amendments to by-laws addressing OBIC Board representation 
• Election of
• Officers and members of the Board of Trustees (2nd Vice President, Secretary, At-Large Member, Youth Member,
• Endowment Board (2 members)
• Owen Brown Interfaith Center (OBIC) Board of Directors
• Ministerial Search Team
• Nominating Committee (2 members). 

Article VI of UUCC’s Bylaws states that for meetings of the Congregation, 20% of the membership attending in person or virtually, or represented by proxy shall constitute a quorum, and items will be passed by a simple majority vote. I urge all members to attend the meeting either in person or virtually, or to arrange with another member to cast their proxy vote, so we will achieve quorum. 

UUCC’s traditional annual awards will also be given out – Generous Soul, Backbone, Unsung Hero, Bright Future, Dream Team. 

MEETING DOCUMENTS AND RESOURCES

The UUCC Annual Report, slate of candidates, agenda, and other documents pertaining to the above business items will be posted for your review on the Annual Meeting webpage as they are ready in advance of the Annual Meeting. 

Details about the congregational potluck as well as the Zoom access link for virtual attendees will also be made available on the Annual Meeting webpage. 

VOTING AND PROXIES

To meet the current ballot requirements specified in our Bylaws, Article VIII, Section 5, we will be using an online voting platform, as we have for the past several years. All members have been pre-registered and will receive a link via email prior to the meeting. Please be on the lookout for emails and blogposts in the coming weeks with detailed instructions on how to vote using the online platform. On June 7, volunteers will be available both in-person and virtually for anyone who needs assistance accessing and navigating the voting platform. 

If you are a voting member who is unable to attend the meeting, please complete a proxy form online before 5pm (EDT) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The proxy form may be found on the Annual Meeting webpage. In accordance with Article VI, Section 3 of UUCC’s Bylaws, no member present may cast more than three proxies. Our bylaws do not provide for absentee ballots. 

NOMINATIONS

The list of candidates offered by the Nominating Committee will appear on the Annual Meeting webpage next week. 

As provided by UUCC's Bylaws Article VIII, Section 4, nominations for elected office will also be accepted from the floor at the Annual Meeting, “… provided the nominee has consented. The nominee must be given an opportunity to present a brief statement of their qualifications and any other pertinent facts.” If there are no nominations from the floor for any of the positions, no vote will be held for that specific role, and the individual from the slate will be officially installed in that role.
