This Month in the Garden

Companion Planting & Rainbow Chard

One year ago, in honor of Pride month, we added color to our Rainbow Chard logo making it botanically accurate. We loved it so much that we kept it year round proudly displaying the colors of the rainbow. Happy Pride in your garden and in life! @CedarCircle shares our sentiment.

Speaking of diversity, let's talk about companion planting. This photo features a space saving row of dill tucked neatly between greens. But what does the science say? We like the book Plant Partners for its thoughtful take on separating gardening myths from evidence-based practices. As the book explains, "Biodiversity means a more stable environment for veggies and other plants to thrive by enhancing nutrient cycling, water conservation, fewer pests and ultimately, more carbon sequestration".

Let's honor the strength that comes from diversity, both in our gardens and in our communities.
