Standing Together: Support for Flood-Affected Families
Our hearts remain heavy as we remember the lives lost and families affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal. We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones and to the communities facing displacement and uncertainty. In response to the emergency, WPC joined hands with the Makwanpur District Administration Office, partner organizations, and community members to provide essential groceries and relief supplies. With transportation support coordinated through the District Administration Office, relief materials were delivered to affected areas including Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa where difficult conditions and safety risks made access challenging.
The devastation has left many families without homes and placed children in especially vulnerable situations. Yet amid this hardship, we have witnessed the strength of collective compassion. Individuals, organizations, and communities have come together to ensure families are not facing this crisis alone.
Your generosity is a reminder that solidarity can bring hope, especially in the hardest moments.
| Empowering Women Through Vocational Training | |
On August 3, 2026, WPC launched the second cohort of our vocational training program in partnership with Rotary Edmonds and Rotary Hetauda. This program supports 8 women, including women who have faced educational barriers and economic hardship, with practical skills to strengthen their livelihoods and build greater financial independence. Vocational training is not simply about learning a skill it is about creating opportunities for women to shape their own futures. We are also encouraged by the progress of women from the first cohort, many of whom have begun operating small businesses in their communities. Their initiative and growing confidence show what is possible when skills development is paired with mentorship and consistent support.
Thank you to our Rotary partners and supporters for investing in women’s empowerment. Your partnership helps women move from opportunity to action.
Nurturing Leadership at WPC Safe Home
| |
We are proud of the young girls at WPC Safe Home who continue developing leadership, creativity, and teamwork through child-led activities in our Child Club, Utsaha Bal Samuha (Enthusiasm Child Club).
This month, the children organized:
An oratory competition on “Today’s children, tomorrow’s leaders: Our education, our future”. A dance competition with 18 girls. These activities create space for children to express themselves, build confidence, and strengthen public speaking and organizational skills.
At WPC, protection goes beyond providing a safe place to live. It also means nurturing children’s potential so they have opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
| | Welcoming New Staff to WPC Safe Home | |
To strengthen the care and support provided to children at Safe Home, we welcomed three new team members this month. We are also grateful for staff members who completed their service with WPC. We thank them for their contributions and wish them well in their next steps.
Please join us in welcoming:
- Shanti Lopchan | Psychosocial Counselor
- Dipa Rai | Safe Home Nurse
- Sujata Baraili | Safe Home Tutor
We are grateful for the dedicated individuals who help make Safe Home a place of safety, care, and opportunity.
