Your Local Source for Green Inspiration and a Deeper Connection to Nature!

As we prepare for the 21st Annual YardScapes Quad-Am Golf Classic, I want to thank everyone who has helped make this event a success over the past two decades. What started as an employee golf outing has grown into a community tradition that brings together clients, partners, friends, and families for a great cause.

While player registration sold out almost immediately once again, we still need your help. The success of this tournament depends on the generosity of our sponsors and donors. Every contribution, large or small, helps us maximize our impact and continue supporting the important organizations this event was created to benefit.

If you've ever considered sponsoring a hole, donating a raffle or auction item, or supporting the tournament in any way, now is the perfect time. Thank you for being part of the YardScapes family and helping us make our 21st year our best yet. -Shayne

NATIVE PLANT OF THE MONTH

New England Aster is an herbaceous perennial that takes center stage as summer begins to fade. New England Aster steals the show with its vibrant purple blooms that provide one of the most important late-season nectar sources for pollinators.

Why we love it:

  • Spectacular purple flowers from late summer into fall
  • Attracts butterflies, native bees, and migrating monarchs
  • Provides critical late-season food for pollinators
  • Thrives in full sun and adapts to a variety of soil conditions
  • Adds outstanding color when many gardens are winding down

New England Aster should be planted in a location that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. In early summer, pinch back stems by one-third to encourage a bushier plant, reduce flopping, and yield even more blooms come fall.

Landscape Tip: Pair New England Aster with goldenrod for a stunning native fall display that supports wildlife and creates a natural look. Despite its reputation, goldenrod is not responsible for most seasonal allergies. The real culprit is ragweed, which blooms at the same time and releases lightweight pollen that is carried by the wind, while goldenrod's heavier pollen is primarily spread by insects. 🦋
