Grant Award
The Salisbury/Sharon Transfer Station was awarded a grant from DEEP’s program,Sustainable Materials Management SMMR2. This grant will allow the Transfer Station to take a giant step forward in pursuit of waste reduction goals. The grant will allow the Station to implement Unit Based Pricing (aka Pay As You Throw) and Food Waste Diversion. There will more information available to residents and businesses in the weeks and months to come.
Sweet Williams and Coffee Grounds
Sweet Williams owners have expressed an interest in finding a way to compost their coffee grounds rather than throwing the heavy and wet grounds in their garbage bins. For now, a Food Waste Program participant has volunteered to bring the buckets of coffee grounds, as well as carrot and banana peels to the Drop Off section of the Transfer Station. If you are a customer of Sweet Williams AND you have a current Transfer Station sticker, think about volunteering to bring bins of food waste to the Food Waste Drop Off area.
Email foodwastepilot@gmail.com to offer your help.
Food Waste Program
The food waste program is open to Salisbury and Sharon residents who can join at no cost, simply by sending an email to foodwastepilot@gmail.com Take a look at the food scraps accepted in the program
