The Message this Week
Preaching Text: John 17:25-18:27
How did we get here? We fast forward...or it may feel fast...to the arrest of Jesus. We don't usually hear these parts of the story until Holy Week. What I appreciate about hearing them right now, is that it is a reminder that Holy Week is practice for all the holy weeks that occur in our lives...the moments when we wonder, how did I get here? Moments that aren't marked ahead of time on our calendar.
Gracious God, in the midst of the darkness, You bring light. Help us to remember and know this when we are struggling. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.
Why is holy week called 'holy'?
| | Soup Suppers and Holden Evening Prayer take place every Wednesday in Lent through March 25. Click HERE for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Schedules. | |
- Holy God, be patient with us when we fail you, and renew your promises within our sorrowful hearts, to the glory of your name.
- Help us to cherish the natural world as you do.
- In a world that still persecutes those who are different or dare to stand for a radical reordering of society, make us bold to confess the biggest rebel of all—our unwavering savior and sibling, Jesus Christ.
- Forgive our shortsightedness, pardon our weakness, and heal every infirmity which plagues us. Bestow your tender spirit upon all those in need of your healing.
- Consider us mercifully when you gather your children around your heavenly throne, clothed in light and crowned with salvation.
Into your hands we place our prayers, spoken and unspoken, and entrust all things to your eternal care. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

However, for others the idea of decluttering the past and moving forward can be a painful process. Memories, whether good or bad, have a way of seeping in, making it difficult to begin that fresh start you want and need. Allow a Stephen Minister to help you, through God’s love and guidance, work toward starting a new chapter in life, without repeatedly rereading the past chapters. Let this Spring be the one of new beginnings and hope for you! Please contact Pastor Trudy if you or anyone you know might need the help a Stephen Minister can offer.
