Our Very Own at the MPTC Plymouth Police Academy
East Bridgewater Police Department's K-9 Officer Josh DeJesus and K-9 Thor were at the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Plymouth Police Academy for a K-9 Demo day! Officer DeJesus and Thor worked alongside other teams from surrounding towns which included Officer Joe Boyajian and K9 Caide of Fall River PD, and Detective Colleen Marzelli and comfort dog Callie of Bourne PD. These three teams accompanied Officer Dave Aguiar and K-9 Edo in the demonstration.
Posted by the MPTC, "Much appreciation to all the handlers and Police Departments for sharing them with us! These handlers are also proud Plymouth Academy Alumni!"
As alumni of the Plymouth Police Academy, EB's Officer DeJesus and the other handlers showed their PPA pride, while also expressing their committment to keeping their communities safe. What better way to support one another than to come together as a team themselves!

Climate Can-Do:
Pollinator Gardens
We can help bees, butterflies, and birds keep our world in balence with an easy- to maintain Pollinator Garden.
Pollinators play a vital role in food production, helping to pollinate a significant portion of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we consume. By creating pollinator gardens, we can help reverse the decline in pollinator populations, contributing to both ecological health and food security.
It is important to plant native species, so New England flora should be your focus. To attract bees, it is suggested to plant white snakeroot, bluebells, or American trout-liilies. To attract butterflies, plant New York ironweed, white wood astor, or purplestem angelica. Hummingbirds, as well as the other pollinators, are attracted to spotted crane's bill, butterfly milkweed, bee-balm, and white turtlehead.
Economically speaking, seeds are the better way to go. Plant them a season ahead (Fall or WInter). Already grown plants, though pricey, are easier and faster. Not only are these gardens pretty to look at, it will save you some time with yard work since you don't have to mow!
It does not matter how much land you have available, whether it is a four feet by four feet or a whole field, pollinator gardens bring life and beauty into our world. You can be a part of this journey to better our planet, one plant at a time.

The Bay Circuit Trail Goes through East Bridgewater
The trail and greenway is located close to 4 million people in Eastern Massachusetts, starting at the mouth of the Merrimack River and ending in Kingston Bay. The BCT, a close-to-home trail, offers a variety of recreation options including: walking, biking, snowshoeing, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Many sections of the trail are accessible by the MBTA commuter rail and other public transit systems.
The idea for the Bay Circuit Trail & Greenway arose in 1929. Thereafter, the vision was proposed as an “outer Emerald Necklace,”— in other words, a greenbelt that would mirror the famous string of Frederick Law Olmsted-designed parks throughout Boston. Above all, the corridor would provide open space for the city’s fast-growing population. Eventually, over the next several decades, various public and private open spaces were established in the area between what is now Route 128 and Interstate 495. However, they failed to keep pace with commercial and residential development. Finally, interest in the project was renewed in the 1980s, and in 1990 the Bay Circuit Alliance (BCA) formed to make the trail and greenway a reality
The Alliance focused on linking segments of the trail to provide a place for recreation by adding more “pearls” to the “emerald necklace”. That work resulted in what we now call the BCT
Since 2012, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) has led Bay Circuit Trail partners in the completion, enhancement of the trail, and also the long-term protection of this greenway. At present, more than 230 miles of multi-use, passive recreational trail have been dedicated, thanks to the contributions of hundreds of volunteers in 37 cooperating towns.
The AMC guides local communities in establishing their portion of the Bay Circuit Trail through planning and technical assistance, route identification, land protection, trail management and construction. Their connection with state and federal government helps them promote the Bay Circuit concept and improve trail-wide issues.
To fulfill the vision of the Bay Circuit, AMC has been working to close the final gaps of the trail. We are working to document varied uses on the trail, improve the recreational experience, secure permanent protection for the trail corridor, and encourage the public to explore the trail’s 230+ miles. Making Honey
We started publishing the BuzzAround 16 years ago; a weekly compilation of local activities. We have always focused on the spaces where people are dedicating their volunteer time to make our communities better places to live. This spreads love in our villages, showing how we bind together and support one another.
BuzzAround spreads this good news because we all need it. We need to hear that good people exist, and that we have the power to shape our communal story. We have the power to create a just, caring society.
Again and again I have seen it work, and shared these stories. We have helped each other get through...and I am convinced that teamwork, with mutual respect and understanding, will get us though the challenges to come.

Thank you for reading your BuzzAround, and for contributing to East Bridgewater's hometown life. Your participation makes our community bee sweet as honey.
