Maybe it was the music of Frank Sinatra coming from my XM radio station.
Maybe it was the smell of Sunday Sauce ( Gravy) on a low boil in the kitchen.
Maybe it was the touch of the vinyl record albums in my record rack.
Maybe it was the taste of New York Bagels with a smear cream cheese.
Maybe it is the photo of my dad and me in June’s publication of Green Living Magazine, written by author David Brown when he captures the beauty of having a loving dad.
So today, I celebrate a great guy, Louie Evangelista.
Louie did not man a spaceship, or find a cure for cancer, or own Manhattan island, but he was precious to mankind.
Louie taught my sisters and I, my cousins, my children and their children to have respect for one other and to have integrity and compassion for our family and our community.
Daddy you taught us the value of laughter, joy and diversity.
I will continue to be the light and love to your legacy and to follow in your footsteps.
Happy Father’s Day to you and too all the Father’s who share the dream of equality and peace in this world.
With Love,
Mella
