Dear friends,

At Cape Wellness Collaborative, we’re reminded every day that cancer care extends far beyond medical treatment. It’s also about feeling supported, finding moments of comfort, and knowing you don’t have to navigate the experience alone. Those small but meaningful moments of connection are at the heart of what we do, and they’re made possible by the generosity and compassion of this community.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor those living with breast cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember those we’ve lost. It’s also an important reminder that support is needed at every stage of the cancer experience, long after the awareness campaigns and pink ribbons come down. Every person’s journey is different, but no one should have to face it without access to care, comfort, and community.

At CWC, we’re grateful to walk alongside individuals and families facing cancer by helping them access integrative therapies, nourishing meals, and emotional support services. And we’re continually inspired by the people who make this work possible: our dedicated providers, generous donors, community partners, volunteers, and everyone who believes in the power of caring for one another.

As we move through October, I hope we can all find ways, big or small, to show up for someone who needs a little extra support. Thank you for being part of this community and for helping us bring comfort, connection, and care to our neighbors across Cape Cod and the Islands.

With gratitude,

Carol

One of the most meaningful parts of our work is seeing the many ways our community comes together to support people facing cancer. From wellness events to friendly competition and heartfelt tributes, the past few weeks have offered so many reminders of what’s possible when people rally around a shared purpose.

Cape Cod Healthcare Survivors Day

Thank you to Cape Cod Healthcare for hosting such a wonderful Survivors Day on October 3! We loved connecting with survivors, sharing a sampling of CWC’s wellness therapies, and being part of a day filled with community, celebration, and thoughtful surprises. We’re grateful to Cape Cod Healthcare for creating this special opportunity to honor and celebrate those impacted by cancer.

Pilates with Purpose

A big thank-you to CWC-affiliated practitioner Niki Kellett and Pilates with Purpose for hosting their annual Pilates with Purpose event on October 4 and choosing CWC as this year’s beneficiary. It was a wonderful day of movement, connection, and community, all in support of our mission. We’re so grateful to everyone who took part!

Pickleball Social Honoring Tom Greenwood

On October 4th, more than 60 friends gathered for a special pickleball social organized by Gary Nowitz in memory of Tom Greenwood, who recently passed away from cancer. The event was a heartfelt tribute to Tom and a beautiful example of how friendship and shared memories can bring people together for a meaningful cause. Thank you to Gary and everyone who participated in honoring Tom’s life and supporting CWC. This incredible group raised $2,285!

Pink Ribbon Pickleball

For the fourth year in a row, Pink Ribbon Pickleball brought its community together in support of CWC! Held on October 7th, this annual tournament gathers more than 100 women to honor their friend Deb Trippier, who passed away from breast cancer in 2021. This year’s sock hop theme brought plenty of fun and personality to a day already filled with purpose. We’re deeply grateful to this incredible group for continuing Deb’s legacy through friendship, remembrance, and support for others facing cancer. Together, they raised more than $7,000 this year!

Thank you to everyone who organized, participated in, and supported these events. Your generosity helps make comfort, connection, and care more accessible to individuals and families across Cape Cod and the Islands.

While many of our offerings are designed with CWC clients in mind, our in-house events and workshops are open to the public, too. Whether you’re looking to learn something new, find a moment of calm, or connect with others, we’d love to welcome you. Even better, your registration helps support the therapies, resources, and compassionate care we provide to individuals facing cancer across Cape Cod and the Islands.

Take a look at what’s coming up, and join us!

Mark your calendars for April 3, 2027! Dancing with the Docs is returning, and the excitement is already building. This year’s lineup is taking shape, with incredible local teams preparing to trade their day jobs for the dance floor.

Who will be taking the stage? We’ll be revealing this year’s teams soon, so stay tuned. One thing is certain: it’s going to be a night to remember, all in support of our mission to bring comfort, care, and connection to those facing cancer across Cape Cod and the Islands.

Can’t make it to the festival? You can find our previous year merch online, too. (New merch will be on the website after the event). Whether you shop in person or from home, every purchase is a fun way to show your support for CWC and our mission to bring comfort, connection, and care to individuals and families navigating cancer across Cape Cod and the Islands.

A heartfelt thank-you to our Second Summer Cycle team!

Although the event was ultimately cancelled back in September, our riders and supporters continued to show up for Cape Wellness Collaborative, raising funds to support individuals and families navigating cancer.

Their generosity is a beautiful reminder that community is about more than a single event. It’s about the people who remain committed to a cause, adapt when plans change, and find ways to make a difference regardless of the circumstances.

We’re so grateful to every rider, donor, and supporter who helped carry our mission forward. Your dedication helps make integrative therapies, nourishing meals, and emotional support more accessible to those who need them most.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Julie Greenspon, a beloved member of our CWC community. Julie taught yoga at our affiliated studio, Yoga of Yarmouthport (among other wonderful studios). After receiving services through CWC following her first diagnosis, she generously volunteered her time to help with Wellness Eats deliveries and at cooks. Julie also helped CWC in other ways over the years, lending her time to event planning and other areas when she could.

Julie had an incredibly big heart, and her loving, kind, and compassionate spirit embodied so much of what we hope to cultivate through our work at CWC and beyond. As a practitioner, volunteer, and community member, she touched so many lives in so many meaningful ways. We are grateful for all she gave to CWC and to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
