HELP FOR RIGHT-OF-WAYS
The Green & Clean Committee is piloting a street beautification effort for JP right-of-ways including removing trash and invasive plants, clearing debris from rainwater basins, and trimming vegetation for pedestrian and biker safety.
Did you know that you are responsible for the area in front of your house to the curb, and in the alley, to the middle of the alley? If you personally need help with your right-of-ways, you can request help from the G&C Committee. They will take requests as volunteers are available.
If you can get the majority of your neighbors to agree, you can schedule a block clean up with the committee. Not all have to help, but a few others plus you would work!
Call or email Erin at 520-314-7883, erinposthumus@gmail.com or drop a line to PO Box 41243, Tucson AZ 85717

WHY HELP OR GET HELP FROM THE JP GREEN COMMITTEE?
The heads of the committee are passionate about native plants and invasive species. They have extensive experience in plants and especially despise stinknet and buffelgrass. They share information with everyone and are great resources! They live in Jefferson Park and are determined to keep it green and clean. Give them a hand! See the projects and plans and special links to identifying flowers on the Green Committee website - hit the green button:

Mother Nature had her way last Saturday, March 28. The Balloon Blast Picnic had to be canceled due to historic heat and high winds.
BUT, not to worry! The gift cards and the balloons are saved. The committee is planning the picnic for October, so watch for the invite!
| | March 28 brought high winds and hot temps. Not good for helium balloons! | | Report Illegal Signage in Jefferson Park! | | These signs may not be legal. PDSD asking for addresses! | | |
Four signs that have already been reported were not permitted by PDSD.
Code Enforcement has asked for the address for each sign. If everyone, on their morning walks, report these, PDSD's task will be easier! Code Enforcement violations should be submitted here:

- Add lighting to the south side
- Trim trees to allow visibility to Grant Road
- Add rock beds where homeless make camps
- Install dog waste collectors
- Install center bars on benches to prevent sleeping

The Mayor and Council can still require undergrounding. They cannot vote solely on undergrounding, but they can vote on approving the Zoning Examiner's decision only with the condition that all lines located within the University Area Plan are undergrounded.
Stay tuned for updates and how you can lobby Mayor and Council for undergrounding when they consider it.
(Thank you to the Undergrounding Coalition and Underground Arizona for their advocacy on this issue)
| 22nd Street Bridge Detours | The 22nd Street Bridge will be widened from a four-lane divided roadway to a six-lane divided roadway to match the lane configurations on each end of the project. This will increase the operational capacity and remove the bottleneck created by the current four-lane configuration. The 22nd Street Bridge is structurally deficient and will be replaced with a new bridge along the same alignment. For more information see the 22nd Street Bridge project page. | | |
Bandit or Wildcat signs like We Buy Junk Cars or Houses or Test Strips, etc. are illegal, so feel free to take them down and get rid of them. Often, they are installed very high up and with power tools. If that's the case, submit a report to Code Enforcement and they will come around and take them down. Call 311 or CLICK HERE to submit online report to Code Enforcement.
(Thank you Garden District)
