NGs on Report Cards - No Grade Entered Due to Absences

If a student received an NG on his/her Fall Semester report card or have missed over 10% of a course during 2nd Semester, the student should enroll in APEX College and Career Readiness Course 1 for the first semester and 2 for the second semester, and begin earning time back. If you are unsure of how many hours you owe for a course, please reach out to your counselor or Mr. Ogle for clarification.  (He will not know an exact amount until the end of the semester.)

If a student's absences have placed them at risk of not meeting the 90% attendance threshold in one or more of their classes they are at risk of receiving an NG. If an NG is triggered and placed on your report card at the semester, the student will be required to make up the time through additional coursework to get credit for the class(es). NGs earned in the second semester, have a very short window for time to be made up to receive credit for the course. We HIGHLY recommend for students to login in and work ahead to bank time in APEX in case they need the time.

If a student earns an NG, they will be required to work in the APEX course. LInked are the directions for enrolling and completing work. If you cannot enroll or are confused, please see Mr. Ogle in room 1152. We want to help you!

REMINDER

Early Dismissal from School

All students must check out with Ms. Espadas in the Attendance Office located in the Main Office before leaving school during the school day. Parents must also come in to check their students out, and they must present a valid ID that matches information in PowerSchool/HISD Connect. The main office will then request the student from class.

3:00 PM is the cut-off time to pick a student up early for the day. Parents arriving after 3:00 PM cannot have their student called down to the attendance office. If a student needs to be picked up early, they must be picked up before 3:00 PM.

When absent, students should turn in an excuse note (doctor’s, parent, etc…) to Ms. Espadas for filing. As a reminder, a minimum attendance requirement of 90% in each class is required to award course credit.
