Hello Steve, Enjoy our Saints News!

HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSING

As the VCHS 25th Anniversary winds down, I want to share a few final highlights. If you walk down the upper hallway in the West Building, you’ll see class photo composites. The first four classes have been missing, but not forgotten. With help from our friends at Lifetouch, we were able to recreate photo composites for the first VCHS graduating classes. They will now hang on the same wall along with all of the classes and soon the Class of 2024 will join them.

VCHS opened in 1998 with 32 students in grades 9-11, and the first graduation was in May 2000. These are the early pioneer Saints and worthy of mentioning here.

Class of 2000 – Taylor Durrett, Marcel Heitkamp, Mark McCotter, Bethany Nelson, Clint Peterson, Katie Satterstrom; Class of 2001 – Mikayla Curtis, John Hanan, Alex Marchetti, Natalie Rapson, Elisa Rohlwing, Brittny Sheely, Jason Struve; Class of 2002 – Kathryn Adams, Paul Barry, Kali Clark, PJ Dauphinais, Brett Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson, Dominque Gros, Kimberlee Graef, Conor Horan-Kates, Isabelle Maloney, Jonathan Manson, Megan McGee, Morgan Rasmussen, Daniel Seatvet, Ryan Spinks, Shannon Struve, Trygve Verke; Class of 2003 – Katherine Bradway, Brittany Beshoner, Caylin Engle, Caleb Hanan, Heather Kroschel, Stephen Reid, Ryan Steiger

Across that hallway and a little further west, ten banners now hang from the ceiling showcasing our school’s history. It’s a walking tribute to God’s faithfulness and a fun reminder of school milestones and national events that shaped who we’ve become. And earlier this week, students were tasked with identifying items to store in a time capsule that will be placed inside a school wall not to be opened until our school’s 50th Anniversary.

There has been so much to celebrate and so much for which to give God thanks – 25 years of excellence with a vision of more to come! Proud to be a Saint!

Please note, “Oliver” has been performed thousands of times in British and American schools, becoming one of the most popular school musicals. It was one of the first musicals to receive both a Tony Award for Best Original Score and an Academy award for a movie. While the music is light and the characters are colorful, “Oliver” deals with heavy subjects such as child trafficking, discrepancies of the class system, abuse, and the underworld.

Through the performances, VCHS hopes to acknowledge these issues while bringing to light the redemptive message of change. In addition, the Theater Department will be donating to Christine Caine’s non-profit, A1 which fights human trafficking.
