Cumberland Historic Ghost Tours will conduct its annual twilight Halloween Ghost Tour on Saturday, October 17 at 7 PM. The ghost tour will begin in front of the Allegany County Library on Washington Street and proceed through the historic district. Patrons will be introduced to some of Cumberland’s past citizens who have taken up residence among the living. According to tour guide Anne Potts, “The inability for some poor souls to move on is often explained by a tragic death or unfinished business. Through meticulous research, some specters have been identified, but the identity of others remains a mystery for now.” All proceeds from the event are donated to local charities. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students, and tickets may be purchased from tour guides immediately prior to the tour. For more information, call
301-777-9140.

The character of a wine is shaped by many factors, but few influence it more than the soil in which the vines are grown. This August, we're exploring wines from some of the world's most remarkable vineyards—where vines take root in soils formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. Discover how landscapes born of fire produce wines of striking minerality and complexity. Join us for an evening of wines forged by volcanoes.

PS. Get your Lava Brains heated up for a trivia challenge

Don't forget that Members receive a 5% discount off the retail price of any wine in the Arcadian collection.

Now open on the second floor of the Ferleman Gallery

RootsTable begins with the land. Every plate tells the story of fresh fields, family farms, and growers who believe food should be honest, fresh, and alive with flavor. Our kitchen does not invent those flavors—it reveals them, honoring the work of those who bring them to life.

Check out our menu at https://rootstable.com/menu. The menu shifts with the seasons, just as the farms do. When strawberries reach their sweetest, they will brighten our salads. When the air cools, our soups carry the slow comfort of winter harvests. Each dish arrives with the character of its origin—grown nearby, gathered at its peak, and prepared with care.

Rooted in the land and completed in the gathering, each meal honors the ground that shaped it and the hands that share it.

The beautiful mountains of Western Maryland present an excellent opportunity for our shelter dogs to experience the joy of a long walk, hike or run in many of the area's scenic locations. Are you looking for something more low-key? No problem. We have many pups that would enjoy an afternoon lounging on a couch, a stroll through the neighborhood, or maybe a trip for ice cream. The most important thing is giving an adoptable shelter dog a much-needed break from the kennels and providing enrichment and socialization. About the Show:

Set eight months after the Aberfan Disaster of 1966, in which 144 people were killed (116 of them children), The Revlon Girl tells the real-life story of a group of bereaved mothers who met every week above a local hotel to talk, cry and even laugh without feeling guilty. At one of their meetings, the women looked at each other and admitted how much they felt they'd let themselves go. So afraid that people would think them frivolous, they secretly arranged for a representative from Revlon to come and give them a talk on beauty tips.

Loft 129

129 Baltimore Street • 301-268-3971 • www.loft129.org

Loft 129 is an event venue that provides live concerts and other entertainment. #musictownmaryland

• Crosswinds Big Band, led by Dale Rodevick. Come hang out and hear the cats read through the best in modern big band charts from the libraries of Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Count Basie, Les Hooper, Gordon Goodwin, Maynard Ferguson, Hank Levy, and more.

The sessions are free to the public. The band meets every first Wednesday of the month - 7:00 - 9:00 PM.

• Lynn Hansen, Friday, October 9, 8 – 9:30 pm. From Canada to the Stage at Loft 129… Lynne Hanson! Too tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country, Lynne Hanson’s brand of porch music with a little red dirt can turn on a dime from a sunshine, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Her hard living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” And while her deep, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that really sets her apart.

Winner of two Canadian Folk Music Awards, Hanson is known for her high-energy, roots guitar driven live performances, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming.

Tickets $15: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/loft129/1776177

• The Grateful Allman Band Experience, Friday, October 16, 8 – 9:45 pm. The Grateful Allman Band Experience (GABE) brings together the legendary music of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Band—three giants of American rock whose influence continues to resonate across generations. Featuring an all-star lineup drawn from notable Mid-Atlantic touring groups including Danger Bird, Covered with Jam, Montgomery Warlocks, and The Crimestoppers; GABE creates a vibrant, improvisation-driven concert experience inspired by the spirit of the iconic Watkins Glen Summer Jam.

For over a decade, GABE has entertained audiences from the Carolinas to New Jersey, including multiple recent sellouts drawing 200–300+ attendees. The band isn’t a costumed tribute act; instead, they focus on capturing the authentic feel, freedom, and musical interplay that defined these historic bands—delivering a show that appeals to jam-band purists and casual music fans alike.

Unlike single-focus tribute acts, GABE unites three major fan communities into one show, expanding audience reach and giving venues a broader marketing foundation. The result is a consistently strong draw, a welcoming multi-generational crowd, and a performance that keeps audiences engaged from the first note to the encore.

Tickets $20: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/loft129/2231697
