Updated Invoice Policy for US-based audits in 2026:
GFCO had announced that in 2025, all US-based audits would be billed for in advance of that service. Throughout the year, we found this was not conducive to a good customer experience. Starting at the beginning of 2026, the audit service has now returned to being invoiced after service is rendered.
We sincerely apologize if the pre-billing of US-based audits created any issues for your company. We wanted to make sure all clients were aware that this has been changed back to the previous billing process.
Reminder about Certification Renewal Invoices:
In 2025, GFCO began issuing renewal invoices to clients 90 days before their certification expiration date. This is intended to ensure renewal ahead of the certificate of expiration, preventing lapse in certification.
Soon, clients will receive reminders each month leading up to the expiration of certification if the renewal invoice is still unpaid. Please note that if the invoice is unpaid by the expiration of the certification, you may receive a notice of non-renewal that could result in the closure of that account. If you intend to renew certification, please make sure the invoice is paid by your certification expiration date to ensure no lapse in certification or failure to renew.
Call for Impartiality Panel Members
As part of GFCO’s accreditation to ISO 17065, we need to consistently
demonstrate that our certification practices are fair and impartial – that we treat all certification applicants the same. As part of our impartiality practices, GFCO convenes a group of stakeholders every year to review updates and activities within the program, to ensure that our program remains fair and unbiased. This meeting typically occurs on the last Thursday in August and is 1-2 hours in length, depending on the agenda. Materials for review are distributed one to two weeks before the meeting.
If you would be interested in serving on our impartiality panel, please submit a resume/CV to laura.allred@gluten.org. We will be able to accept the first two eligible applicants onto the panel for this year.
You can read more about our impartiality policies in the Impartiality section of the GFCO Manual.
