Manchester Grand Opening Gains Community Attention

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of the Central Maine Community Service Hub in Manchester, Maine. More than 150 community members gathered with us to celebrate the opening of the new facility. This project is a result of three years of planning, preparation, and construction, and embodies Woodfords’ commitment to the region for decades to come. The project was made possible by partners including Wright-Ryan, Josef Chalat, Architect, and Julie Tipper of re*fab design studio, who managed the design, development, and construction of the completed facility. Throughout the course of this project, Woodfords has been fortunate enough to receive generous support from a number of businesses, foundations, and individuals. Each has played a unique role in shaping the facility as it stands today. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who donated to this effort. The first to break in the new space was our 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) Summer program. The program, featured on a recent broadcast of News Center Maine, brought together 14 students from local school districts to offer a fun and memorable summer learning environment. The staff and students alike enjoyed the amenities of the new building and the incredible opportunities the additional space and resources opened up for the program.

Bringing the New Building to Life, Central Maine ESY Summer Program 2026

Each summer, Woodfords’ Central Maine School-Based Program works creatively to plan and offer a 7-week Extended School Year Summer program to the children they serve during the school year. Until recently, that meant converting their less than 2,000 square foot administrative office into a “summer school” for 10-15 kids ages 5-15 to attend on daily basis. This year, for the first time, and as our first ever program to enter the space, the Central Maine ESY Program kicked off in a brand-new state-of-art 22,000 square foot facility. Students enjoyed the new playground, the gymnasium like atmosphere of the sensory motor room, and the functional life skills equipment they could practice with including a washer and dryer, bed, kitchenette, and more. Testing every new door, swing, bench, and cabinet, the students and staff in the year’s program were curious, resilient, creative, thankful, and supportive. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the program staff for planning such an unforgettable summer and to the students and families for filling the new building with so much love, laughter, and learning!
