Good morning, Kristin,
As I sat down to write this evening, I paused for a minute, considering the young man in the photo above. He appears to be proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm, and with his hand raised, inviting his fellow students and the congregation to join him in singing the response.
With our school year drawing to a close, I reflected on how often our students are afforded similar opportunities: to proclaim the Word of God, to share the Good News, to be “caught” reflecting God’s glory through their words and actions.
Achievements and growth abound in our schools, and I am proud of them all. But what inspires and sustains me is the young man above. How blessed are we to serve in schools that seek to proclaim the joy of the Gospel each day and create space for our children to encounter and develop a relationship with the risen Lord.
I am grateful to serve alongside each of you in this work. I thank you for everything you have shared with your schools and with the archdiocese throughout the year. To those who are departing for new chapters, thank you for your ministry. And to those returning, I look forward to running it back with you all come August.
Until then, I pray you take time to rest, to find yourself in the presence of those who bring you joy, and, as always, I hope you return in August, like the nuns returning from Grayland, refreshed and strengthened.
