CRA Annual Report Highlights Revitalization Projects


The FY24 Community Redevelopment Agency Annual Report reflects that revitalization and private investment continues to grow throughout the CRA. The report documents financials, new business openings, development projects, incentive grant activity, commercial and residential projects, and beautification and historic preservation programs.

Beckett Bridge Replacement Progress


Pinellas County's plans to replace the Beckett Bridge are progressing with the recent approval of $3.7 million in state funding. The bridge, originally constructed in 1924, was the subject of studies dating back to 2014 to evaluate its removal, replacement, or rehabilitation. The current timeline expects construction to begin in early 2026. The City anticipates relocating underground pipelines later this year in preparation for the bridge work.

Get Involved in Main Street!


Residents, business, and property owners have been meeting monthly in discussions of re-establishing a "Main Street" program Downtown and to establish one at the Sponge Docks. Main Street is a grass-roots approach to revitalizing Downtowns, and all are welcome to participate. The next meetings are Tuesday, April 1, 6 pm at Wine at the Docks, and April 15, 6 pm at AHEPA, Downtown.

Stay Tuned Records Opening Downtown

"Stay Tuned" for the grand opening Saturday, April 12, of a new vinyl records store at 102 E. Tarpon Ave., the former site of Sandbar Architecture. Stay Tuned specializes in vinyl records and has thousands to choose from pop to classics and oldies and much more. They also sell cassettes, record players, and music related gift items. The owners have operated pop up shops and this will be their first brick and mortar store.

Elevate Florida Applications Close April 11

The application deadline is April 11 for residents to apply to Elevate Florida for home mitigation assistance. Elevate Florida is a new statewide residential mitigation program that provides funding to residential homeowners to assist with mitigating damages from natural disasters like hurricanes and floods. The program will offset costs of residential elevation, acquisition/demolition, wind, and reconstruction mitigation.
