Music for a Summer Afternoon

Our second recital, From A Feminine Perspective: The Sacred Music of Alice Jordan (celebrating the 105th Anniversary of the CHPC Pipe Organ) is this Sunday, July 23 at 2:00 pm. The program will feature compositions that were all composed or arranged by Alice Jordan.

Join us for a fun afternoon, and don't forget to invite friends.

A Message from the Pastor

Dear Beloved of God,

This coming Sunday, we celebrate the 105th anniversary of the pipe organ with a recital by our music director David Gibson. It will also be David’s last day with us.

David came to CHPC in August 2021. His calm and compassionate presence arrived when it was greatly needed. David and Frank have blessed this congregation, going the extra mile and giving much more than David’s contract called for. I am grateful for all he has brought and want to share a few with you.

  • Expertise and professionalism as our choir director
  • Thoughtful and appropriate liturgical arrangement and decor in the sanctuary
  • Purchasing flowers, candles, and communion elements
  • Organizing and cleaning the choir room
  • Planning music for Sundays and special services, along with the Advent and summer recitals
  • Working collaboratively with other staff members
  • Caring for choir members and others in the congregation
  • Producing a weekly choir newsletter during the liturgical year
  • Bringing organ music back to the congregation’s worship experience

We will miss his careful attention to detail and quality of music. Join me in wishing David and Frank well as they enter a new chapter in their lives.

Peace,

Peggy
