Call for Applications
RISE Germany

RISE Germany is a 10-12 week summer internship program for undergraduates in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, and computer science. Students receive the opportunity to work with researchers at universities and research institutions across Germany. The working language is English.   Apply by December 16th.

RISE Professional offers summer research internships in Germany to Master’s and PhD students from North America at companies and non-university research institutions with strong relations to industry in the same fields as mentioned above. Apply by December 16th.

IT Internship Network Administration at DAAD New York

Our DAAD regional office in New York is offering an internship in network administration. We are seeking Information Technology majors   who are nearing the end of their studies   or   IT graduate students. The internship will take place in New York City and interns will receive a stipend.

DAAD New York is offering an internship in higher education marketing and program administration. Responsibilities include helping with processing applications, marketing and social media assistance, internet research, and event organization.

German American International Network (GAIN)

We are currently accepting applications for a summer internship at our New York office, starting May 15 or June 1 to August 31, 2020. The internship involves assisting with organizing the 20th Annual GAIN Conference of German Researchers - the largest forum for German PhD students, postdocs, and professors working in North America.

What do I do if I have a burning question regarding my submitted application, but the program officer managing my application is in Germany and has already left the office for the day?

In the event you've submitted an application to one of our programs administered out of our Bonn offices, such as the RISE programs or our Postgraduate Study Scholarship in the fields of fine art, music, architecture, or performing arts, you're still welcome to contact us in the event you have questions regarding your application. We will try our best to assist you while our colleagues in Bonn are out of office or already gone for the day and help find answers to your questions or solutions to your problems.

Did you know...

... that Germans practice a form of fortune telling on New Years Eve? Bleigießen , or lead pouring as it is literally translated, is a Sylvester (German term for New Year's Eve, named for the feast day of Saint Sylvester) tradition with roots in Ancient Greece. Before midnight on New Year’s Eve, families and friends gather around a candle whose flame they use to melt small pieces of lead on a spoon. The molten lead is then dropped in its liquid form into a bowl of cool water and, upon hardening, takes a shape. Everyone then analyzes the new form their lead has taken and interprets it as a sign or symbol for the new year.
