Hello families,

We will celebrate the Blessing of the Animals this Sunday as we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis. There are lots of great books about Francis for kids. We talk about his care for all of creation and use his famouse Prayer of Peace to talk about how to walk in Jesus' footsteps.

We hope to see you at 9:00 in Ellis Hall for the Pet Blessing (no Children's Church), Children's Choir, and lots of adorable furry and scaly creatures. Stop by the Pet Tag table on your way in to make a tag for a beloved pet that has died, a beloved pet that is too naughty or squirrelly to come to church, or to have your picture made with St. Francis. You can also bring a stuffed animal to represent an animal you wished you had!

Who is Francis of Assisi

Sarah McLachlan - Prayer of St. Francis

Just a note that the Pet Blessing on Saturday has been moved from Piedmont Park due to a big race to the Beltline. Please see below for details.

Peace,

Kathy

PS - There has been some interest expressed for some sort of gathering/class from 5-6 on Wednesday evenings for parents. It could be a book study, a bible study, or some combination. I am trying to get an idea how many folks might be interested in this. Please let me know if you would be interested.

Blessing of the Animals

Oct. 5, in Piedmont Part on Beltline

***** new location******

Oct. 6, at the 9:00 service in Ellis Hall

Blessing of the Animals is moved to New Realm Brewery, Saturday 10/5, 10:00-12:00. 550 Somerset Terrace NE #101, Atlanta, GA 30306. Parking is available, and you can travel there on the beltline. Hope you can join us!

If you haven't ever been to the Blessing of the Animals, take a look at last year's pictures: a cat in a cat backpack, a hamster, a 'fancy' lizard, stuffed lovies, and pet necklaces for those who have passed on or for those who can't come to church, and just some ordinary old dogs! We even had a cat pic on a phone! It is an amazing day, so join us in Ellis Hall where the Children's Choirs will be singing. No Children's Church that day.
