Next ONE WILPF CALL
NAFTA, WILPF Elections, Ending Nuclear Weapons
Thursday, November 9
4pm pacific / 5pm mountain / 6pm central / 7pm eastern

  1. The New NAFTA's coming and it could threaten a LOT of our issues. Hear Lisa Griffith and Betsy Garrold of the National Family Farm Coalition on what we can do.
Though shrouded in mystery, initial reports are that Trump's New NAFTA will be even worse than Obama's TPP. Worse for the environment, for local economies, for democratic process, for nation state sovereignty of laws, for drug prices, and for family farms. And ultimately the New NAFTA will contribute to the roots of war by promoting divisions and economic injustice, food insecurity and winner take all strategies that abandon the most vulnerable. What can we do? Organize Now!!

Because so much of rural America voted for Trump, we feel like outreach to rural areas about what's WRONG with the New NAFTA is essential. These economically depressed areas are poised to reject more trade agreements that ship jobs overseas... but the tools we'll use are convertible for urban areas too.

On our Nov. 9th call we'll have Lisa Griffith, the Outreach Director for the National Family Farm Coalition and Betsy Garrold, representative to the Executive Board of National Family Farm Coalition and Board President for Food for Maine's Future . Betsy deals with policy. Together they'll offer insights into what we can expect from this new version of NAFTA, what resources we can use to oppose it, and how we can collaborate with allies on this on a practical timetable.
