Dear Families,

Bishop Wright has written a special message about our recent election. I offer it here with love:

If we are despairing today, despair must not steal our witness to our hope in Christ.

If we are rejoicing today, rejoicing must not steal our witness to Christ's compassion for neighbor.

If we are partisans, let us be partisan for Jesus Christ in every season.

Grieve or celebrate as you must, but our work continues.

The children and I just talked about how hard it is to "love our neighbor", especially if they are different from us, like different things, believe different things, irritate us or even anger us. In this divided nation and time, it is more important than ever to learn how to love each other, to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and to remember that we are not of this world, but must work to make this world a better place for all God's children.

That is our calling - always has been and always will be. Let us go forth in love and peace to serve the Lord with all our hearts, all our minds, and all our strength.

One of my favorite Sundays is when the children take on the role of servant leader in our worship. Children will read, write and recite the prayers of the people, carry banners, usher, serve communion, and more. While this is important for kids to know that they can serve their church, it is equally important for us adults to support them in their ministry and to learn from them. Let Kathy Roberts know if your child will be able to take part asap!

Advent Adventure

It is almost time for our season of Advent where we prepare and wait for the coming of Christ. We kick off the season with an adventure in Ellis Hall where you can buy and make an Advent Wreath for your home, visit the Nativity Museum, make crafts to decorate and use in your home to mark the season, and write Advent cards to those who are lonely or may not be able to get out much during this season. It is a festive time and sets the mood for preparing for Jesus to come near!

Use the Volunteer QR Code above to volunteer to help or email Kathy Roberts if you have a Nativity that you would like to share for the day. Simply write on a 4x5 card where the Nativity is from or why it is special to you and bring it on WNS or Sundays before the Event.

St Nicholas Celebration & Feast

Come join us in for this magical night of wondering and celebrating together. We will hear the story of St. Nick under twinkling "stars" just as our ancestors shared stories of their faith around the fire. Then we will sing Christmas carols with bell ringing by the Children's Choir, and maybe St. Nick might just make an appearance after he fills up the kid's shoes with goodies! You can't miss the Feast before of after the service with Ellis Hall decked out in a Woodland theme and lots of fabulous food and fellowship. Sign up on Realm for dinner. Bring a neighbor or friend for this welcoming night to set the mood for the Advent season.
