Take Action on the Same Day for Same Day Voter Registration

Democracy should not have a deadline – yet here in Massachusetts, thousands of people every year find themselves unable to vote due to administrative barriers upheld by our legislature. Please join our advocate partners to contact your state senator and representative on the same day—Wednesday, October 22—to demand the legislature pass same-day voter registration this session.

We have been fighting for Same Day Voter Registration for over 15 years – yet this critical voting rights reform still remains stuck in the legislature. While each election year leaves behind increasingly high numbers of eligible voters due to this administrative deadline, lawmakers say that now is not the time for same day registration. Your voice is critical to our fight to ensure that our state legislators know that Bay Staters demand voting rights!

Please call or send an email Wednesday to your legislators. Find them HERE. And share this alert with your friends.

Here's what to say:

Dear (Senator/Representative) ________:

I think it is past time that Massachusetts passed same day voter registration. We need to end the 10-day voter registration cutoff period. Democracy should not have a deadline. Let’s remove barriers to voting in Massachusetts.

I ask that you support H.834/S.505, An Act establishing same day registration of voters. Please contact your colleagues on the Joint Committee on Election Laws and ask them to report this bill favorably. Then let leadership know that your constituents want this bill passed this session.

Thank you.
