-Live Webinar-
Presenter: Arti Kumar-Jain, M.Ed., MA., NCC

When: July 18, 2022, 6-9:30pm EST

Contact Hours/CE Hours: 3

Cost: $78.00
DESCRIPTION:
’The efficacy of group play therapy has been considered in some studies, and they indicated that this method is effective to prevent or resolve psychosocial problems (Hubbard, 1991; Johnson, 1988; VanScoy, 1972). For instance, Reams and Friedrich (1994) found play therapy has increased the social development of children."

Further, group play therapy seems to make sense since children are able to learn prosocial skills from each other in a supervised setting. The shortage of available resources and therapists makes group setting an even more practical and useful approach. During this training, participants will learn about groups from a strength-based approach to using mindfulness, yoga, and strategies that are evidence-based. A number of directive play therapy approaches will be part of this presentation.

OBJECTIVES
  • State common social skills deficits children of various age groups exhibit
  • Identify self-calming and self-regulating strategies for social skills group settings that can be used for directive play therapy
  • Demonstrate and practice creative ways of making and keeping friends, showing respect and empathy for others.
  • Identify various ways to manage the display of anxiety among group members using CBT and play therapy
