Interested in a Winter Hike?

2023 was The Year of the Trail and we hiked 52 trails- one a week for the entire year! Plenty of those hikes were in the winter so there are lots of options to inspire you. The trails at Cone Estate are the widest with gentle grades that make them safer after snowfall. If the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed due to weather, the trails can be accessed from Blowing Rock at Bass Lake. The Middle Fork Greenway offers great options as well!

Get Out of the Cold & Get into Art!

As much as we love a winter hike, indoor activities are especially welcome when it's cold. The perfect place to warm up and spend several hours is Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, or BRAHM for short.

BRAHM is a place where you can learn more about Blowing Rock's history while also taking in world-class exhibits. Rooted in the arts and culture of Appalachia, BRAHM brings in exhibits that are relevant and timely to the area. Admission is always free.

Town Birthday

March 11

Blowing Rock turns 136 this year! The town was incorporated on March 11, 1889. From some of it's earliest legistation, Blowing Rock was slated to be a tourist destination and a respite from the summer heat. Some people traveled all the way from Florida to seek refuge in the cool mountain breezes of Blowing Rock.
