Dear Archway Trivium Families,
I am reaching out today to clarify a change we made this year when scheduling our concerts. The logistics around school concerts have presented a significant challenge every year. The expansion of our campus and rising rates for external venues have added to those challenges. In addition, we see the struggle every year that families engage in as they manage a quick turnaround from school time to concert time. For those with multiple children, this struggle is often repeated as we normally hold concerts on more than one night.
This year, we made an attempt to simplify our concert process. The first thing we did was move the first semester date out of the busy holiday season, which is why it is now a fall concert. The second thing was to take a full day and dedicate that to the concert. The intent is to have one day dedicated to celebrating music and alleviate the strain on families on the actual concert day. The added benefit is that we can continue to hold our concerts on our own stage, which helps significantly with expenses.
It is this second change that seems to have raised a point of confusion. Our calendar labels our concert days as days-off because students are not in class. Much like conference days, these concert days are intended as days when school is not in session, but work is still being done. In other words, the reason for day-off is the concert. We are looking forward to having some fabulous concerts in this new format. Hopefully, it will be a benefit for all our families. If it isn’t, then we will continue to work toward a long-term solution that meets the various needs of our community. I look forward to seeing you all on November 9!
Heartily Devoted,
