It's Not Just Your Grandparents Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is considered to be younger-onset Alzheimer’s if it affects a person under 65. Younger-onset can also be referred to as early-onset Alzheimer’s. People with younger-onset Alzheimer’s can be in the early, middle, or late stage of the disease. Younger onset generally progresses faster and is especially devastating to working families not of retirement age. The lack of respite and care options for those physically fit but cognitively impaired is a critical problem.

Regretfully, the general medical community is often NOT well educated or aware of Younger Onset Alzheimer's, or the differences between
Alzheimer’s, Lewy Body, Frontotemporal, Vascular, and Mixed Dementia.

Dementia is an umbrella term for a decline in memory, thinking, and reasoning skills that significantly impacts daily life. Each variety of dementia has different characteristics, and for caregivers, knowing the difference can help in monitoring a loved one’s symptoms and accessing the right resources.
