Will you be my valentine?

BUDSTER WANTS YOU! CHECK YES!

Budster is one of those senior dogs that everyone warms to! His story is heartbreaking. Budster was adopted from a shelter at two years old by a truck driver and for the next 6 years lived the carefree life of a trucker’s dog on the road with his best pal. Sadly, his friend had to change jobs to a company that would not allow dogs on the trucks. So back to the shelter for Budster where he grieved for his friend and the life left behind. Fortunately, our Executive Director Catherine spotted his potential at the shelter and brought him to Paws in Prison.

We discovered that he is around 8 years old, is probably a beagle/hound

mix and he weighs 50 pounds. The most delightful discovery was that he

already knew most of his basic manners! He loves playing with his bright

green Gumby toy and a yellow tug. He is extremely social with all people.

Budster is also loyal, playful and affectionate.

There’s something so comfortable and relaxing about being around the

gentleman Budster…and no puppy craziness! He has no known medical

condition and really deserves to go to his forever home.

Help Budster write his future and make him a part of your family today!

OUR LARGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR IS ALMOST HERE!

Mark your calendars!

March 5 at 6 pm to March 6 at 6pm

Amplify Austin Day is the biggest giving event in Central Texas. For 24-hours, residents across our region are invited to participate by giving back to the local nonprofits that do so much good for our community! Last year, over $10 million dollars was given to over 700 non-profits.

How can you help? Donations, no matter how small, can make a big difference! There are matching donations available for challenges such as the most unique gifts in an hour and there are often matches for animal care organizations. Help us earn these available funds!

It has been proven that the groups with the most "Fundraising Champions" earn the most. What does that mean? Sign up to be a Fundraiser and utilize your network to solicit donations, even small donations add up!

SUCCESS STORY!

The primary focus of Paws in Prison is rehabilitating incarcerated women. The dogs are the textbooks and the beneficiaries!

The inmates are taught how to care for and train the dogs, using only positive reinforcement methods. The women, in the process of giving the shelter dogs love, care and training, develop life skills such as compassion, patience, accountability, and self-confidence. Upon release from prison, many go into animal welfare related occupations.

In fact, Paws in Prison offers scholarships for the inmates to pursue the animal care industry including but not limited to Veterinary Technician, Dog Training, and Grooming classes.  With their training, the parolees return to their communities as better mothers, daughters, wives, and citizens because of their experiences with rescued shelter dogs and the skills they are taught in the Paws in Prison program.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US SAVE MORE THAN DOGS!

We're sorry if we omitted any names from those of you who helped us in any capacity this month, but we do not always know the names of our Paws in Prison angels! Thank you to Julie F and Carolyn P!

Monthly donations, no matter the size, help us know what we can count on each month. Thank you to Sharlene E, Daniel H, Marcus L, Debbie M, Jennifer K, Shelly R, and Diana S for your continued support!

February is historically the month where we receive the least donations. Perhaps this year can be different or you can save up for the March Amplify Austin campaign!
