In Our Prayers
Lori Godwin has asked for prayers for Harry, the son of Lori's college friend Jane. Harry is suffering from severe symptoms attributed to long COVID. May God grant healing and wholeness to Harry and all those who continue to be severely limited by the coronavirus.
Please be in prayer for Floyd Putney, a family friend of the Bynums, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
We continue to pray for our nation and its leaders. Mighty God, sovereign ruler of the heavens and earth, we ask you to guide those who make, administer, and judge our laws, so that, guided by your wisdom, they may lead us in the way of righteousness, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

LAC is Rich in History!
No surprise that a 110-year-old Church is steeped in interesting history to celebrate! Have you been to the Church to take a look at the newly minted LAC archives? Take a look -- just up the stairs in the Forest Park Ave foyer. The items were culled from the summer's tidy-up at the Church! What great treasures we found.
Did you know?
That LAC had a men's basketball team back in the day!
Russell Hall hosted quite a lovely "black tie" event in 1940 -- it seems a good time was had by all!
Evidence of LAC's storied music history spans the decades, with notable concerts and special musical presentations.
It seems LAC Youth Group has always been an integral part of LAC; scrapbooks from the 70's and 80's demonstrate robust enthusiasm and fellowship!

ORDINATION SUNDAY
This Sunday, LAC's incoming class of elders and deacons will be ordained and installed. New trustees will also be installed into their new roles.
Ordination is an act of the church, whereby those who have been called by God to serve as officers in the church receive a special blessing for
| |
|
|
their work through prayer and the laying on of hands. Ruling elders, deacons, and ministers of the Word and Sacrament are eligible for ordination in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Installation, which will also occur next Sunday, marks the beginning of an elected role in the church. Elders and deacons who have previously been ordained to those positions will begin their time of service in this manner, as will newly-elected trustees.
Ordination and installation is a special moment in the lives of the candidates and the congregation. We hope that you will join us in worship on Sunday, January 26th to ask God's blessing upon them
and our ministries.

We are thrilled to announce that, at 7 pm on February 6th in Russell Hall, chaplain, author, and writer, Andrea Raynor will kick off a brand-new speaker series at Larchmont Avenue Church!
Each installment of SEEKERS will have two distinct parts. First, on a Thursday evening, a local expert will speak in Russell Hall on an issue of interest or urgency to our community. A few days later, attendees are invited to gather at Locals 10538 (2128 Boston Post Road) for a time of fellowship and informal reflection facilitated by Rev. Bynum. Following this pattern, SEEKERS will explore contemporary topics, help attendees discover new paths to health and wholeness, and connect us as neighbors in valuable conversations that serve our entire community.
All are welcome! Bringing friends, family, and neighbors is strongly encouraged, so feel free to copy and share this promotional link with anyone who might be interested.

"Finding Your Compass:
Navigating When You Can't See the Stars"
February 8, 2025, 2 PM at Locals 10538:
Informal Time of Reflection with Rev. Bynum
More about "Finding Your Compass..."
Most of us have faced times of crisis or difficulty at some point in our lives. It may be prompted by a serious illness or the death of a loved one, the loss of a job or a relationship, a child who is struggling, or one's inner turmoil. When these times come, how do we stay centered and able to move into the future with confidence and hope? For people of faith, how do we stay connected to God when our prayers seem to go unanswered or our faith begins to falter? Rev. Andrea Raynor will share her experiences as a hospice chaplain, a chaplain to the morgue at Ground Zero, a bereavement counselor, and a cancer survivor to offer insight into how to maintain hope through whatever life brings. She has helped thousands of families peacefully navigate the final chapters of their lives with dignity and courage and has guided others—in every stage of life—to find clarity and purpose. The hope is that, together, we can more deeply embrace the reality that we are never alone, and that life is inherently meaningful, despite the pain we bear.
Learn more about Andrea Raynor through her Instagram Page or find any one of her many published books through your local bookseller or on Amazon Books.
Looking Ahead . . .
Save the date for Thursday, March 13th when SEEKERS will host
Dr. John Delfs, founder of the charity Good Wolf!
