Matt Potts
Matt was born in Chicago, but spent his formative years in Westport - Staples '78 - as a result of his dad transferring from the Midwest to the northeast. And Matt's long career, following his education at Boston University and University of Hartford, has also seen several relocations: from his first job doing market research for Business Week in New York to what was then the sleepy town of Mountain View, California, where he worked for Time Inc.'s Sunset Magazine, to Southern California and Northern Virginia, and then back to the northeast to be closer to his family, and working for the final 20 years of his career in Danbury. Matt has always considered Westport his home. He is blessed to have his 97 year old mother living in town.
Matt has always been hungry to learn about different business areas in which he could adapt and apply his marketing talents. He provided marketing services to high-tech companies in the early days of the internet. And for five years, he did marketing for the Association of Physics Teachers, which involved considerable travel, and setting up and running trade shows, conventions and presentations to college physics teachers. (He was not a physics major in college.)
Matt is a recent retiree, and is excited by the numerous Y's Men activities. He has strong interests in walking, travel, backgammon, as well as our overall inclusiveness and camaraderie.
