You can join the discussion without participating in the Watch Party. Some may want to watch the film ahead of time or have already seen it, but you’ll still need to register for both to join the discussion and get the Toolkit and Resources list.
Here are the INSTRUCTIONS YOU’LL NEED TO JOIN THE EVENT! Not as hard as they look!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO DO AHEAD OF TIME:
-
Sign up for a Netflix account here. A basic account costs around $10 a month, which you can cancel immediately after this event. OR use a friend’s account. (Up to FIVE households can use a single Netflix account. You just need your friend’s user name and password for a 1 time use.)
-
Download CHROME for free, if it’s not already your chosen browser platform. You’ll need to download CHROME to use as the platform for viewing this film.
-
Download the Netflix Party App (called NP/Tp) here. Once it’s downloaded look for it in your EXTENSIONS area (In Chrome, that’s near your search bar, in the black jigsaw-puzzle-piece icon near your picture by the search bar). You may not get a confirmation it’s downloaded, but you’ll find it in your extensions. Netflix Party is also called Teleparty, but they’re the same app.
-
REGISTER for the Watch party to get the RESOURCES/TOOLBOX and Zoom discussion link.
THEN… ON THE DAY OF THE WATCH PARTY
You’ll receive the Teleparty link on the day of the party and a link to our post-film discussion on Zoom. (Just be sure to REGISTER.) You can join the zoom discussion without joining the Watch Party, but you have to register to get the zoom link.
-
After you register, check your email for a Teleparty LINK from us. It will come through Eventbrite.
-
Close ALL windows where Netflix is open and click on the extensions link (the black jigsaw puzzle piece icon).
-
In the dropdown extension menu (the black jigsaw-puzzle-piece icon of your toolbar), click on the Tp icon. (Teleparty). Our party chat will appear!
-
The movie will start right away… but please PAUSE IT, until the hosts tell you (in the chat) to start the film. This way, we’ll all be watching on the same timeline.
If you have technical problems on Saturday, text your questions to Cami Taylor at 240-838-1948.
