No School on October 12

Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle will be closed on Monday, October 12, for Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Classes, Corporate Work Study placements, and school offices will be closed for the day.

We encourage our community to take time to reflect on the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and to consider our shared responsibility to advance dignity, justice, and reconciliation.

School resumes on Tuesday, October 13. Looking ahead, there is no school on Wednesday, November 11, Veterans Day.

At Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, we believe students thrive when families and educators work together. We look forward to connecting with you.

PSAT

All students at CRJS take the PSAT, which is an important step in their preparation for the College Admissions process.

PSAT will take place on Friday, October 16, after homeroom. The two ninth-grade cohorts, Pepperdine + Loyola homerooms, who will be away at CWS, and any other absent students will take the exam on Tuesday, October 27 instead.

The PSAT has two sections: (1) the Reading and Writing Section, and (2) the Math Section. The PSAT helps students demystify the exam experience and prepare for the SAT, which can be part of the college application process. PSAT/NMSQT results can provide insights into your child’s academic strengths, along with areas they can work on while still in high school.

Please ensure students arrive at school on time with their fully charged CRJS laptops and chargers. No additional preparation is necessary before the test.

CRJS in the News: South Seattle high school expands with new academic center, grows work-study model

Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle recently broke ground on its new Norcliffe Academic Center, a building school leaders say will expand academic opportunities while supporting a unique educational model that places students in professional workplaces throughout high school.

Volunteer

Help us welcome future Wolves at Open House! We’re looking for volunteers to help make the event a warm and welcoming experience for prospective families exploring educational opportunities.

Referral Incentives

Help us grow the Wolf Pack while earning rewards through our family referral program. Referrals are one of the most powerful ways families learn about Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, and we want to thank you for helping us connect with future students.

Our referral incentive program lets families earn up to $500 per referral, with no limit on how many referrals you can make. In fact, some CRJS families earned more than $1,575 in VISA gift cards last year through successful referrals.

How it Works

  • Earn a $25 VISA gift card when a prospective student completes an application and lists your name as their referral source.
  • Earn a $500 VISA gift card when your referred student is accepted, enrolls, and completes Montserrat.

Whether you’re inviting a family to Open House, sharing our recent media coverage, posting about your CRJS experience on social media, or recommending us to a friend, your advocacy makes a difference. Thank you for helping more students discover the life-changing opportunities available at Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle and for growing our Wolf Pack community.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

Seattle Convention Center

Students who signed up to attend should complete their registration and return their permission slips to Ms. Harris by Thursday, October 15. The CRJS van is full. Families are welcome to go on their own; the fair is free and open to the public.

Share Your Experience

If your student attends the college fair, we would love to hear about their experience! Families are encouraged to share photos, videos, favorite moments, college discoveries, and reflections from the event by email.

Your stories help us showcase the exciting college exploration opportunities available to our students and inspire fellow members of the Wolf Pack community.

Be sure to tag Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle on social media and invite us as collaborators on your posts whenever possible so we can help amplify and celebrate your students’ college journey.

Reminders for Week 4

Healthy Habits For Cold and Flu Season

As we enter cold and flu season, we want to do our part to help keep our students, families, and community healthy. We encourage everyone to take steps to reduce the spread of illness and practice healthy habits when possible. By working together, we can create a safer, healthier work and school environment for all students throughout the season!

Dress Code and Punctuality

  • Students will be marked late to work if they arrive after 7:45 am at CRJS, unless a CRJS CWS employee has permitted it. A parent/guardian will be contacted to ensure tardiness is not regular.
  • Students must be outside of their workplace 3-5 minutes before their designated pick-up time.
  • Students need to be in CWS dress code for work. This includes a CRJS polo or white button-down tucked into gray slacks, a black belt, and all-black shoes with black socks. Students who are not in dress code will not be able to attend work and must pay a $280 fee. Students and a parent or guardian must sign the CWSP Participation Agreement 2026-2027 form, which details work attire. Uniform requirements are in the Student-Family Handbook.

CONSTRUCTION

South Entrance Improvements Start October 12

As part of ongoing campus improvements, work will begin next week on the south entrance to campus near the classroom exit. This project is expected to take place throughout the week of October 12 and may continue into the following week. We will keep families informed of any updates as the work progresses.

What to Expect

  • The front ADA parking lot will be closed during construction work hours.
  • At the end of each workday, we will install steel plates over the construction area to restore vehicle access.
  • Pedestrian access through the south entrance will be closed through at least October 15.
  • Families and visitors parking in the back lot will need to use the north entrance to access the school.
  • The classroom exit will be inaccessible for the majority of the construction period.
  • The Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle sign near the south entrance will be temporarily removed to allow utility work beneath the area.

Accessibility Assistance Available

We recognize that the ADA parking lot closure may create challenges for some families and visitors. If you need accessibility accommodations during this time, please call the school office before your visit. We will work with you to make arrangements and meet your needs as best as possible.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we complete these campus improvements. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep our community safe throughout the project.

ATHLETICS

Basketball Registration

Winter sports registration is open. Sports will begin around the first week of November. We are offering Girls’ Basketball and Boys’ Basketball. We will schedule a meeting for families at the end of October to share more information. If your student is interested, please register.

CAMPUS MINISTRY

Save the Date: Our First Las Posadas Celebration

Join us as we begin a new community tradition this Advent season. Save the date for Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle’s first Las Posadas celebration on Tuesday, December 8 at 3:00 pm, immediately following Mass for our Lady, celebrating the Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

 Tuesday, December 8 | 3:00 pm

Immediately following Mass for Our Lady

Las Posadas is a cherished Advent tradition that commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and their search for a place to stay before Jesus’ birth.

Following Mass, our community will process to classrooms, using the classroom doors to represent the homes where Mary and Joseph sought shelter. Afterward, families will gather in Romans Hall and are invited to bring food to share as we continue the celebration together.

We look forward to gathering for this special Advent celebration. We will share more details as the date approaches.

FAMILY ENGAGMENT

Federal Tax Credit: What it is and Why it Matters

At Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, we know that access to high-quality education changes young lives for the better, forever. That is our Why.

This Seattle Times opinion piece describes a new federal tax credit program that could offer major support to Washington’s most deserving students through tutoring, after-school programs, and other enrichment opportunities—in private AND public schools. $1700 per eligible taxpayer will either go to support Washington students, go to students in the 31 other states that have already opted in, or go to the IRS.

The tax credit program offers a rare win-win opportunity for taxpayers and students. It costs taxpayers nothing, but could dramatically strengthen our schools and programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Boys & Girls Club of Washington.

The Cristo Rey Jesuit mission calls us to remove barriers that limit educational and economic mobility. We strongly encourage Governor Ferguson to opt in to the Federal Tax Credit program, investing in student success and creating pathways to a brighter future.

Read the article and share your thoughts with Governor Ferguson. As the authors state, “We urge Governor Ferguson to opt in, especially for those students who have historically had fewer educational opportunities available to them… when we have a chance to give more students access to the resources that can help them succeed, we should take it.”

Volunteer at the Wolves Snack Shop

The Wolves Snack Shop is open Monday through Friday from 3:15–4:15 pm in Romans Hall, where students can purchase snacks and drinks, including chips, candy, and beverages. Families are invited to help make the Snack Shop possible by volunteering for a shift. Choose a day that works for you!
