StateImpact Oklahoma and The Frontier collaborate to investigate state health lab's move
|
When Gov. Kevin Stitt announced in October 2020 that the state’s Public Health Laboratory would be moved from Oklahoma City to Stillwater, it took many by surprise. Millions in taxpayer dollars have been spent to relocate the lab, and funding was partially privatized, with a private management company in charge.
StateImpact's Catherine Sweeney and The Frontier's Kassie McClung and Kayla Branch have spent more than a year requesting emails, invoices and other documents related to the move. Their first report is now published, but their investigation continues. Listen to the reporters discussing some of the challenges they faced getting documents at the link below, and stay tuned for more in the coming months.
