Goodyear Faith & Community Roundtable Summary

November 8, 2022

Super Bowl Opportunity

As you may know, the city of Goodyear is a partner of the upcoming Super Bowl. The NFL Green has two opportunities that we'd like to make you aware of.

  1. Super Kids – a program that aims to get + give donations of sports equipment and more to kids in need.
  2. Material Recovery – there’s a lot of waste that comes from the Super Bowl (décor, lumber, carpet, turf, furniture, uniforms) that NFL Green donates to non profits or cities to repurpose.

NFL Green will be hosting meetings in December with interested parties on the two items above and provide more details. If you would like to know more, please email your name and organization to jeremy.dyck@goodyearaz.gov.

As a site for Toys & More, we will welcome 150 cars as they pick up their gifts. Each car will be given a resource/swag bag. Would you like to donate branded promotional products or brochures (in English & Spanish preferably) to be included in each bag? We will need 150 of your items. Items will need to be received by Dec. 1. Let us know if your organization or company wants to be included. Thanks for considering being in our swag bag!

Education Forward

We are reaching out the community to educate citizens about a critical education issue - the aggregate expenditure limit which needs to be increased by 2/3 of our state legislature by 1 March so that our schools statewide don't lose $1.3B in funding. Currently, according to a constitutional law that the voters passed in 1980, schools cannot spend the dollars allocated to them already by the state unless this limit is increased. It could mean closure of school programs and staff layoffs.
