When Youth Lead: Incorporating Lived Experience

into Tribal Child Welfare Practice

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

This 90-minute webinar will include key reflections from the pilot program between the Southern Plains Tribal Consortium and the Quality Improvement Center on Engaging Youth in Permanency Planning (QIC-EY).

This presentation will explore the federal policy implications for Native youth involvement in child welfare decision-making and strategies for strengthening Tribal-state partnerships to engage Native youth with lived experience.

This webinar will also highlight a promising approach to investing in relational, cultural, and legal permanency for Native youth and provide practical recommendations for building and sustaining Native youth in Youth Advisory Boards (YABs).

Participants will be provided with strategies for elevating Native youth voices, strengthening partnerships, and advancing systemic change within child welfare systems with Teams of Lived Expertise (TLEs).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This webinar is intended for Tribal child welfare program directors, administrators, and other child welfare staff; Tribal leadership interested in child and family services; and state child welfare staff interested in improving collaborative efforts with Native lived experts for child welfare decision-making and permanency.
