Sample of a bogus State of Connecticut notice that is part of a scam.
Captain Jillian Cabana of the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau has sent the following message to the Y's Men:
"We have received reports of images and messages being circulated via text and/or email claiming to be from the State of Connecticut These messages are not legitimate and are part of a scam. If you get a text like the one above, PLEASE don’t respond, and DO NOT scan the QR code. If you think the message may be real, check the court’s website (https://www.jud.ct.gov) for case information or call the court directly.
And Another Scam Close to Home
A number of Y's Men have been receiving the email below purportedly from Y's Man President Mike Boyle. The giveaway that it's a scam is the email address next to Mike's name.
If you respond, the scammers at "baxcarl9@gmail.com" now have your name and email address that may be used to ask others for money, codes, or urgent favors. If any email message asks for these, or even requests time for an innocent chat, call the person on a good known number to confirm before doing anything.
