Each of these artists received an Honorable Mention for their creativity.

Morning Offering sold out.

After you’ve made the image, what happens once the image is in your computer is one of the most important steps in your work. Adobe Lightroom will help you get the most out of your images and create an organized workflow.

"Historically there are many easily arguable reasons photographers should choose to make work of their own lives rather than tell stories of others. During divisive times, I struggle to find means of acknowledging my place and respecting others. At the same time, I want to learn while broadening my horizons and collaborating with others to build bridges between communities, while still respecting ethical processes and storytelling.

This talk will attempt to share my thinking while showing some of the project work I have produced, predominantly from the publication Mni Wiconi, Honoring the Water Protectors and the Ongoing Struggle for Indigenous Sovereignty." - JW

Willis’ work, “Requiem for the Innocent” and a sampling of the Water Protectors Book will be exhibited at Gallery Kayafas, opening in September.

Katalina Simon is a British/Hungarian photographer whose work centers on the passage of time and cultural memory. Her interest in photography began when, as a child, she was told that taking pictures was not allowed in many public spaces in communist Hungary and she observed how precious photographs were to her family separated by the Iron Curtain.

We are thrilled to present an online conversation with Katalina about her exhibition, Land Beyond the Forest, hanging at our Griffin @ WinCam satellite gallery.
Simon’s photography emphasizes her strong connection with history and the mood of the environments she photographs. Her image making is only part of a larger goal of experiencing a place, learning about a new culture or community.
Katalina holds a BA in Russian from the University of Bristol in England and is a graduate of the Professional Photography Program at the New York Institute of Photography.

The Land Beyond the Forest is an ongoing series depicting a fading way of life in rural Transylvania. This mountainous and remote region of Eastern Europe is steeped in history and lore. The rugged Carpathian Mountains kept invaders at bay and kept the remote villages isolated from the passage of time.

We are excited to be showcasing Song for my Father: A Daughter’s (W)Reckoning in our Atelier Gallery at the Griffin in Winchester.

We want to bring this beautiful
FREE

exhibition to you, and celebrate
this meaningful series with an online artist talk with Melanie Walker in the Griffin Zoom Room. Join us on August 25th at 7pm Eastern Time to hear Melanie Walker discuss her work, creativity and this beautiful memento honoring her Father.

"I never knew that drug bags were drug bags. I see them on the ground everywhere I go.... I always thought they were for craft supplies, hardware, buttons, etc."

Primary Sources are documents that were created by witnesses or first recorders of events. We’ve come to expect that photographs are reliable and reveal the truth about moments in time. It has been said that photographs do not lie, however we all know they can.

Join us and the 67 exhibiting photographers in the ether to celebrate the long awaited reception.
The Buy a Brick Program is back at the Griffin due to popular demand by our audience.

Once we have accumulated enough orders we will process a bulk order of engraved bricks to be placed into the Griffin's walkway that leads to the Winchester Rotary Terrace. There's plenty of room and we welcome your tribute inscriptions.

  • Are you interested in sponsoring our programs and events. Ads in our newsletter? Give our executive director a call.
