KNEWSLETTER - Vol. 87

Ahoy Marianne!

With Memorial Day in our wake, it's officially official summertime season! For those of you planning to cruise the slot, break out your foulies. The rest of us are going to be dipping into the shorts and t-shirt drawers praying those waistbands didn't shrink while tucked away during those long colder months.

If you haven't already come in to get your bottom paint freshened, there's no time like the present. Give us a call and we can get you booked to be slip sliding all over the Bay no matter your attire!

CAPTAIN Q'S QUAGMIRES

This California man caught national attention for having been mandated by the county to fence in the boat in his side yard... seems his paint job got the last laugh. Click here

This doesn't look like it's going to end well...

Maximum efficiency, but how?

Better safe than sorry or repeat O-fender?

KNEWSLETTER CHALLENGE

Simply reply to this email with your answer. No need to change the title. If you have one, include a photo of yourself, preferably on a boat, that we can use in the event you're our big winner! Please tell us a little about what's happening in the photo. You will be added to all entries and the winner will be selected randomly from all entries. Good luck!

The winner will be notified ahead of time and announced in our next Knewsletter.

CHALLENGE:

Pollywogs appear before King Neptune and his court to become shellbacks in a weird, unofficial U.S. Navy ceremony commemorating a sailor's first official crossing of what imaginary line?

LAST KNEWSLETTER CHALLENGE & WINNER

CHALLENGE:

Stolen from a Facebook page called "WTF is this thing on my boat?" Any thoughts on what this might be?

ANSWER:

If you happened to visit the Facebook page, you probably saw at least one of these contraptions. It's a pre-feeder for a jib. Those of you who have furling jibs might not get it, but these things are very helpful when you're trying to raise your jib. If you're interested in looking further into it, here's a link to a cruiser's forum on the subject.

Congratulations to

PETE WOLCOTT

Here's Pete up his rig. YIKES!

"Our last boat was beautiful, but a big project. Here I am surveying the 1997 Catan 47’ mast that the original builder picked up 2nd hand. I’d never used mast steps before. They sure made climbing the rig easy."
