Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Contact Information Update

The Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships email will no longer be active beginning July 1. You will be able to contact the office directly by submitting an online inquiry or you can reach the office in one of the following ways:

  • Call (210) 784-1300 to speak to an enrollment specialist.
  • Visit in person at the Welcome Center Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Book an online appointment HERE.

Until that time, the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships will respond to you with a (human) response in approximately 1-3 business days. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

A&M-SA’s new website launches July 5! We are excited for users and visitors to experience our new and improved Texas A&M-San Antonio website. We know that with any redesign there may be challenges or issues regarding functionality upon the initial deployment of the website. TU CASA Now Accepting Student Applications 

TU CASA is now accepting student applications for Spring 2023.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Documented intellectual disability (required)
  • Age 18-26
  • High school diploma
  • Serve as their own full legal guardian

Human Services Program

Human Services is an exciting new program at A&M-SA! The course work is designed for people who have a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others and their communities. The first classes will begin Fall 2022, and enrollment for those classes has already begun. Writing Center Update

The Writing Center has updated its name to the Writing, Language, and Digital Composing Center. Summer hours are as follows:
 
·   Monday: 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
·   Tuesday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
·   Wednesday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
·   Thursday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
·   Friday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Save the Date for a Historic Donation Announcement

A historic announcement is coming! A newly established foundation will be presenting one of the most significant gifts in Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s history, one that will create a program that is the first of its kind at the University. Save the date for the official unveiling of this momentous gift on Wednesday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. in the Vista Room (Central Academic Building, 4th floor) on campus.

University Highlights
A&M-SA Wins AMA Awards

Texas A&M University-San Antonio won 1st place in the 2022 American Marketing Association's Marketing Excellence Awards in Higher Education/K-12 for the Future Jaguar campaign. The campaign featured the traditional and digital marketing pieces used to spearhead the largest first-year class in the University's history. The team also took home an award for Best in Show; this award was selected out of all the 2022 entries from every industry.
Enrollment Management Adds New Executive Director

A&M-SA's Enrollment Management announced Vanessa Quiroga as the executive director of community partnerships & campus visit experience. This newly created role will continue to be the main point of contact for the campus visit experience for all prospective student events including: major campus recruitment events, campus tours, and group tours. In addition, this role will continue work with the University's ASPIRE partners to facilitate programs such as the College Access Advisors, ASPIRE Summer Camps, ASPIRE Classroom of the Month and more. In addition, this position will now also oversee the new Parent Program and the upcoming Advise TX grant. Both of these new grant programs are in line with the University’s Transforming Tomorrow Together strategic plan and will have a huge impact on our continued development of the enrollment pipeline and the ongoing outreach efforts within the ASPIRE network. Title IX Coordinator Gives Presentation to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

On May 13, Dr. Joni Baker, A&M-San Antonio’s Title IX Coordinator, gave a virtual presentation to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) on the Government Response to Hurricane Disasters. In her capacity as the vice chair of the Texas Advisory Committee (TAC) to the USCCR, Baker provided an overview of TAC’s investigation into the local, state, and federal governments’ response to Hurricane Harvey. The investigation resulted in an Advisory Memorandum to the USCCR with findings and recommendations for achieving a more equitable response without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, English proficiency, or economic status. Baker has served on the TAC for seven years.
A&M-SA Alum Competes on American Ninja Warrior

Parish Cardenas '21, who graduated from A&M-SA with a kinesiology degree, competed on NBC's American Ninja Warrior. Cardenas advanced to the semi-finals in Los Angeles, which were filmed in April and will begin airing July 18. The finale, filmed in Las Vegas in May, premieres on NBC on August 15 and 22. Read more.

Vice President for Student Success and Engagement Dr. Mari Fuentes-Martin was quoted in The Chronicle of Higher Education special issue, Diverse Leadership for a New Era: How to recruit and support an inclusive administration. Dr. Fuentes-Martin is featured on pages 33-35 and in the story Attracting and Developing Talent, also quoted on p.39 and again on p.44. Read more.
