Hello Beloveds,
So, yes, it’s really happening, Paige will be ending her UUCC ministry at the end of June. In the coming months, you’ll be receiving a lot of communication from the Board about this; the Unitarian Universalist Association has a very comprehensive and straightforward system for a settled minister to leave their congregation, and for the congregation’s path forward. My promise to you right now is that the actions the Board takes on this issue will be as transparent as possible.
But, this isn’t the right time to talk about that. What we need to do now is process the concept of Paige not being a part of our congregational life anymore. I’ve been experiencing a lot of different emotions myself, mostly sadness of course (I’ll miss Paige more than words can possibly express) but also, surprisingly, hopefulness. We, this congregation, have been through a lot, and we have stayed strong (even when it felt like we weren’t). We’ve managed to weather some big storms, which is due in no small part to Paige — her leadership, her love for all of us, and her unwavering dedication to what is in the best interests of UUCC. When she leaves us, she knows that our roots go deep enough to deal with the sadness, the uncertainty, and the difficult steps we will have to take. She knows that we will lean on one another, support one another, and rise to the challenges ahead.
And that definitely goes both ways; whatever direction and whatever vocation her soul calls her to next, we know Paige will be amazing at it, and we wish her all the best.
Please do not hesitate to bring any questions or concerns to me or any members of the Board. You’ll find us in the Board Corner after worship — all of us who are at worship will now be there to be available to you.
With much love,
