The underclassman rebounded from an early-round loss to post a 5–2 record, capped by a pin of Michael Nicosia of Pennsylvania. He finished with three pins and two technical falls.

It's the first in a host of freestyle tournaments for the reigning Division II 106-pound champ, who became EC's first individual state champ in the sport in nearly three decades last month.
